IMPORTANT NOTICE:

On site programs are temporarily suspended indefinitely based upon the Governor’s executive orders. However, some of our programs are being offered virtually. SEE BELOW FOR INFORMATION.

Seniors with questions may contact the Senior program by calling (908) 788-1359 during regular business hours or via email at seniorcenter@co.hunterdon.nj.us.  The Meals on Wheels program will continue with a meal drop off program designed to eliminate personal interaction between participants and volunteers. The Mr. Fix-It Appliance Days have been postponed until further notice.

Join the Senior Center without leaving home as we “stream” entertaining and educational videos on performing arts, culture and history – all free of charge! All you need is a computer or tablet with a broadband internet connection.

Murder in the Garden - Carnivorus Plants
Wednesday, December 16th at 3pm

Ever since botanists discovered that some special plants reverse the usual process of animals eating plants by devouring insects and even small mammals to nourish their own growth, carnivorous plants have been a source of fascination.

Experience the many intriguing forms these plants may take, find out how and why they lure and trap their animal prey, and learn when and where they were first identified and studied.

The Hunterdon County Senior Center and Foothill Acres Center

ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE LECTURE SERIES

Artist Talk: Sunday, November 29, 2 - 3:00pm
Lauren Eckert is a multimedia object maker and illustrator from New Jersey. Her work has been exhibited in venues such as Museum Arnhem, Amsterdam, NL; Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, Gatlinburg, TN; and many more.

Basic Weaving Workshop
Sunday December 13, Time: 12:30 – 2pm

In conjunction with the fall 2020 HAM exhibition From the Ground Up: Peters Valley School of Craft, join artist in residence Cynthia Alberto of the Weaving Hand to learn the basics of weaving on a handmade loom, a process that many find to be healing due to the comforting repetition and simplicity of the process.

From the Ground UP: Peters Valley School of Craft
with Janine Wang

Janine is a native New Yorker with an architectural background, turned Philadelphia-based furniture maker. She holds a BArch from Cooper Union and an MFA from Rhode Island School of Design. She has exhibited at many schools and galleries including the Center for Art in Wood, Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, Rhode Island School of Design, the American Association of Woodturners Gallery of Wood Art, AAW International Turning Symposiums, Appalachian Center for Craft, Peters Valley School of Craft, and the State Museum of Pennsylvania.

All virtual fitness classes will be free of charge. Registration is required.  Instructions to join and invitation will be emailed to you.  You must be a member of the Senior Center and Senior Health and Fitness Program and sign a waiver to enter the class. WOMEN'S ADVANCED FITNESS CLASS - 2020:

POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE:
In our one hour, twice weekly, free classes, we’ll work towards your individual fitness goals as part of a motivated team utilizing innovative resistance, cardio, plyometric, flexibility, stretching techniques and exercises delivered in a friendly and social environment. The coaching is provided by a nationally accredited certified personal trainer who understands (and lives) life beyond 60.  This is exactly the kind of training that you’d find in major health centers, gyms and fitness studios, except that we focus on our needs at this great juncture in our lives as we progress towards the best decades in front of us. We also incorporate the latest information that impacts health and wellness into each session. Come join the fittest group of women in Hunterdon County!
